Is it really September? We’ve got our sights set on delaying the fall reentry with a trip to Ibiza. Not the ear-plugs-required, clubby side of the island, thank you; we’re heading inland, straight to La Granja, a new hotel set on a 16th-century finca amid acres of well-tended farmland, with slow-food workshops, yoga, and full-moon rituals included.

La Granja is a joint project of Design Hotels, a consortium of indie boutique lodgings, and Friends of a Farmer, which bills itself as “a creative community forged around the cultivation of art, crops, and inner gardens.” The hotel is designated a private retreat, but all that’s required for a reservation is a Friends of a Farmer membership, which is built into the €350 ($390) room fee.

Above: The centuries-old house was transformed into a hotel by Dreimeta design studio of Augsburg, Germany, led by Armin Fischer. The team deployed stone floors, cane pergolas, and rustic furniture built from salvaged wood throughout.

Above: The bar is built around a carob tree. The in-house restaurant serves farm fare and there’s live music several nights a week, including relaxing “sound baths”—plus regular yoga and meditation classes and a schedule of other “rituals,” such as a monthly round table of “artists, thinkers, innovators, activists, farmers, community leaders. Its purpose: to farm knowledge and pass it on to others.”

La Granja is located 25 minutes from the Ibiza airport, 10 minutes from Santa Gertrudis, and 15 minutes from Ibiza Town. For reservations, go to La Granja Ibiza.
