In decorating her family bath in Margate, Kent, designer Natasha Lyon made use of her savvy for sourcing vintage (from pink pedestal sinks to Shaker stools) while integrating colorful doses of textiles and unexpected accents. Here, we take a closer look at the key elements that define the bath and offer sources to match.

N.B. It’s worth taking a look at the “before” shot of the formerly colorless bath before Lyon’s redesign.

Materials

Above: Lyon has sourced paint throughout her house from UK company Little Greene. For a similar shade of blue, the Little Greene Pale Wedgwood (249) color comes in a range of finishes.

Above: Lyon created the floor pattern with encaustic cement tiles from Otto Tiles: “I designed them into an oversized checkerboard, conscious that a small pattern would be too busy.” The white is from Otto Tiles in Dirty White.

Above: The green tiles are Otto Tiles in Bosco Green.

Above: The hand-painted backsplash tiles are by artist Hal Haines, who sells them on Glassette for £150 as a Set of Six Tile Trivets (unfortunately, they’re currently sold out). Contact Glassette or Hal Haines for more information or to see more of the artist’s work.

Above: Lyon’s Facebook Marketplace sink score—for €61—became the room’s new focal point. “It’s a 1930s salvage from an old house; there are loads like it on eBay and Marketplace,” she wrote to an admirer on Instagram. Here, the Vintage Pink Pedestal Sink is $575 at Architectural Antiques. Another option is the Powder Pink Shell Sink for €450 at Listers. While not available in pink, we also like the colorful Rockwell Basin Pedestal Sinks from The Water Monopoly in green, yellow, blue, or grey.
