Welcome to our new column, The Brass Tacks, in which we highlight the tiniest but mightiest details in the house: good-looking hardware, hinges, and fixtures.
For our first installment, we’re featuring an attractive alternative to the most utilitarian of household hardware: the humble TP holder.

Above: Julie took note of the Toilet Roll Holder (€59) from Danish design studio Moebe. It’s made from two parts: an oak bracket and a metal wire (available in steel, black, and brass).

Above: The Toilet Roll Holder in oak and brass. “The metal wire holds the paper in place whilst the wooden bracket secures it to the wall,” the studio notes. “The oak is treated with a water-based lacquer, making it ideal for use in damp environments.”

Above: The TP holder is simply and functionally designed for a very unglamorous job. “The Moebe toilet roll holder does what it says,” the studio writes on their site—and manages to look good all the while.
